464 Gallery in Amherst Street in Buffalo, New York. It is founded by Jill Hart and Marcus L. Wise. The gallery was built to give local artists a place to show their work and grow their careers. At 464, our mission is to provide a unique space for local and emerging artists, musicians, and authors to show and sell their work, host events, and provide and receive arts-based education.
Marcus L. Wise
Marcus L. Wise is an arts supporter, advocate, and artist. He is the owner of art gallery and retail space, 464 Gallery, which since 2009 has catered to more than 500 local and emerging artists in Buffalo, NY. Wise is also the owner of the new Glow Gallery on Allen Street in Buffalo. Wise also curates art shows off-site at local law firms, other art galleries and in pop-up gallery settings. In 2013 Wise was given an Award for Commitment to the Arts by Niagara Falls Mayor, Paul Dyster. 2010, Wise was given the Cultural Ambassador Award by the Grant Amherst Business Association, and his gallery; 464 Gallery, was awarded Best Art Openings by Buffalo Spree, Best Under the Radar Art Space in Artvoice’s 2010 Best of Buffalo, then Best Up-And-Coming Art Space in 2011 and again in 2012.
Wise, not just an arts supporter and enthusiast, is also an artist himself with a focus on fine art photography. His vision offers unique perspectives that shift the viewer’s perspective on the plain into the exceptional, the commonplace into the abstract. He has photographed in over 35 cities in as many states and throughout five countries. Wise has exhibited his award-winning photography in numerous juried shows, art fairs, festivals, and galleries throughout the WNY region, NYC, and Pittsburgh.
Wise, a native of Hamburg, NY and University at Buffalo graduate, currently serves as President to the Emerging Leaders in the Arts. Wise is also the creator and moderator of WNY online arts resource www.MINDWEB.us, and is the Editor and Publisher of local arts magazine, Spark.
